Tim MacBain

Board Director - Appointed in 2018, Elected in 2019

Education:

  • Master of Political Science with International Relations Focus from Villanova University
  • Bachelor of Science in Secondary Social Studies Education from Shippensburg University

Career: Since the age of 21, I have been honored to serve as an educator in a neighboring public school district, working for students and families as a classroom teacher, coach, faculty club advisor, and student event coordinator.

Community Service:

  • Past President of Alumni Board of Directors, Shippensburg University
  • Grist Mill Run Community Organizer
  • Past Usher at Trinity Lutheran Church, Lansdale
  • Past volunteer for the International Spring Festival

Personal Life: My wife, Stephanie and I met in high school in northern Montgomery County nearly 30 years ago, and chose to move here to the North Penn community after college to start a family 16 years ago. After starting our careers as educators in neighboring districts, our family grew with the birth of two daughters - about one year apart. As current students at Walton Farm Elementary, they enjoy the blessings of this community while they learn how to give back to our schools and neighborhoods through service.

Why am I running for School Board?

As a proud North Penn parent with two elementary aged students, and a taxpayer who cares about the prudence of our financial choices, I know that the quality of our educational community and the cost-effectiveness of our choices both matter. After 20 years working with students and families in public education, I understand how policy and budget modifications can change our student’s classroom and extracurricular experiences, and the impacts they can have on a community. Though I’m proud of the work we’ve done so far, I’m running to continue that essential support for students, their families, and our neighbors — and work to address our community’s most pressing issues with the competent, open-minded, and civil approach our neighborhoods, families, and students deserve.
